🌿 EMOTIONAL WELLNESS THROUGH YOGA EDUCATIONAL SERIES 🌿

                                                  via ZOOM

Emotional Wellness Through Yoga is an advanced mind-body training designed for people who have achieved everything they thought would make them happy — yet still feel disconnected, anxious, or unfulfilled.

Through neuroscience, yoga, and emotional intelligence, you’ll learn how to regulate your nervous system, release emotional patterns stored in the body, and cultivate the inner state that real success requires.

Healing Through Science, Movement & Mindfulness

Michelle Acebo is a Board-Certified Respiratory Therapist, E-RYT 500 yoga educator, and founder of the Yoga Studio of Corpus Christi School of Yoga. She specializes in translating neuroscience, breath science, polyvagal theory, and yoga into practical tools that help people regulate stress, improve resilience, and cultivate emotional well-being.

Michelle Acebo (spiritual name Umā Devī) is a pioneer in the field of yoga education and emotional wellness, blending the precision of medical science with the depth of ancient wisdom. She is the Founder and Director of The Yoga Studio of Corpus Christi and Director of Education for the Emotional Wellness Through Yoga Educational Series, a groundbreaking program designed to integrate neuroscience, trauma-informed yoga, and spiritual philosophy into accessible emotional health practices.

A Board Certified Registered Respiratory Therapist, Michelle brings over three decades of clinical experience into her yoga teachings. Her medical career began in major trauma and teaching hospitals, including Memorial Medical Center (1986–1991), Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she specialized in Neonatal Intensive Care and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. She served as Director of Neonate Pulmonary Function Testing, participated in HALO flight air transport for critical neonates, and later expanded her expertise into Adult Pulmonary and Hyperbaric Medicine, bringing a profound understanding of the breath-body connection to her yoga philosophy.

Michelle’s yoga journey began in 2001 and soon became her life’s calling. A lineage holder of the Jivamukti, Baptiste, Dharma, and Ashtanga traditions, she trained under Sharon Gannon and David Life to earn her Jivamukti certification and has studied with numerous world-renowned teachers. In 2005, she opened the first yoga studio in South Texas, becoming a catalyst for yoga education in a region where few models existed. Since 2009, she has directed Yoga Alliance–Accredited 200- and 500-Hour Teacher Training Programs, producing hundreds of teachers who now serve communities across Texas and beyond.

Her teaching is rooted in honoring the traditional purpose of yoga — liberation and awakening — while also addressing the realities of modern life and emotional struggle. She founded the Emotional Wellness Through Yoga Educational Series in 2024 to bridge ancient philosophy, neuroscience, and the nervous system, offering a compassionate, evidence-informed approach to healing. Her workshops — including The Healing Power of Presence, Repatterning the Mind, Trusting the Timing, and The Blame Game — are known for their integration of Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, Dr. Tara Swart’s neuroscience of change, Dr. Joe Dispenza’s mind-body rewiring principles, and the spiritual teachings of the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita.

Michelle’s work continues to evolve with her vision: to empower yoga teachers, healthcare professionals, and students to cultivate resilience, restore nervous system balance, and live from a grounded state of compassion and awareness. She believes that where attention goes, energy flows — and through conscious movement, breath, and mindfulness, we can transform emotional imprints into pathways of freedom.

Inspirations and Lineage

  • Western Influences: Dr. Stephen Porges, Dr. Tara Swart, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Dr. Arielle Schwartz, Dr. Pradeep Jamnadas

  • Eastern Lineages: Jivamukti Yoga (Sharon Gannon & David Life), Ashtanga Vinyasa, Dharma Yoga, Baptiste Power Vinyasa

  • Philosophical Roots: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, The Bhagavad Gita, and The Upanishads

Continuing Mission

As both a clinical professional and spiritual educator, Michelle’s mission is to inspire a new generation of yoga teachers who understand the profound intersection between breath, biology, and being. Through her Emotional Wellness Through Yoga Educational Series and advanced teacher trainings, she continues to build a legacy of embodied education that unites science and soul — one breath, one student, and one nervous system at a time.
